Cooperation with the Zittau/Görlitz University

In a joint research and test process together with the Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz, we are developing and testing a new and innovative device that separates film mixtures and is also able to efficiently process large quantities of films in order to produce high-quality and unmixed foils.

Clean separation is a prerequisite for high-quality recycling. Single-layer foils are not a problem, but multilayer foils that contain different plastics and thus different melting points can be problematic.

At Pla.to GmbH we’ve designed a laboratory system for this purpose, which allows cost-effective separation of single and multi-layer plastics. The results and optimization possibilities are then evaluated at the Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz.

We hope that this brings us a step closer to meeting the new 2023 packaging laws. The new recycling quota of 63% will require an improved use of old materials – something that we want to offer with our machines.
